Live Painting
Art for Community Enrichment

Live Painting

I am passionate about bringing art "where you are," to enrich your event. I can paint at your conference, church service, wedding, celebration, memorial, concert, or other gatherings. I have painted at Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, outdoors for events like First Friday Ypsilanti & Juneteenth in the D, coffee shops, weekend retreats & multiple church venues in Michigan and Indiana.

I can design an image based off of the theme / mission statement of the event, or I can paint an image based off of a clients requested concept or provided photograph, image, or design. I may make adjustments to the image, based off of the time provided & the complexity of the image.

To schedule a Live Painting experience, provide the following information:
  • Date of the event
  • Length of time for the event (including arrival, set-up time or rehearsal times)
  • Location
  • The amount of time that you would provide for me to create a painting.

Live Painting Performance Video

I was commissioned to create a Live Painting for Greenroom Church in Ann Arbor, MI to be showcased with their cover of the song, "Humble," by Audrey Assad. The theme of the artwork was Jesus's triumphant entry into Jerusalem, otherwise known as "Palm Sunday." I imagined Jesus interacting with individuals in the crowd in a way that made them feel loved, seen and valued (March 2021)

Live Painting Competition Winner!

On October 2nd, 2020, Natalie K. Ziemba participated in & won a Live Painting Art Battle for "First Friday Ypsi." First Friday is a monthly art-walk in Ypsilanti, MI. The Art Battle was Glow-in-the-Dark paint themed, sponsored by the event group, "ypsiGLOW."

Four painters stood in a circle on the street of Depot Town & spent two hours creating paintings with glow-in-the-dark paint. Afterward, the artwork was posted on social media, where fans of Ypsi First Friday voted for their favorite artwork.

Natalie celebrates her victory with all of the people who loved & supported her completed painting!

Motown Music Legend, Martha Reeves, Performed Alongside My Painting At Juneteenth in the D

Iconic Motown legend, Martha Reeves, performed as the headliner at Juneteenth in the D on June 19, 2021 (Detroit, MI). She is the original singer of the song “Dancing in the Street.” As Martha performed, my Live Painting was on stage with her.

When I was thought about what I wanted to paint for Juneteenth, I decided to focus on the concept of Freedom and Liberation. For me, the word “Freedom” symbolically reminds me of flying in the air or a bird taking flight. I am reminded of people flying with wings on their back, like angels. I thought it would be redemptive to paint an image of a Black woman flying high with beautiful, giant black wings.

I believe that this image can be a representation of her ability to spread her wings & take up space. It represents her ability to be proud of the beauty of her blackness. Her confidence to fly high & soar fully alive, fully free & fully herself. She is flying high above the obstacles on the ground, and soaring far beyond limitations.

This image is the type of world we are all fighting for. I hope and pray that this painting is inspiring and encouraging to you. Together we will make a land for all people of color to be loved & free to soar.
